# Using Zapier with Mailchimp

Here is a sample “Zap” (a simple automated process) that takes Flip.to’s Advocacy leads and adds them as subscribers to MailChimp. The same concept can be used to add Discovery Plans & Email Opt-outs into any platform of your choice.

## Step 1: Get started

Login to [Zapier](https://www.zapier.com) and click the “Make a Zap” button.

<figure><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/E3a-So4CQzy_ss6HX5-wwVZCZ-ujR4h__L9NtmwP0TNl2qMUhIA0GeYyBLbz8n_Ncb7F6lVzVYEEJoCtp4Ev2ndL5kKxD-HFL8_WD6yVVYrk7YAmMGtmK7nuuOGu-Q8Bxx-LAMN9gzVRpyYw9t8IVg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Step 2: Define a “Trigger”

Name your new zap.

<figure><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/Wct1xHgK9-E_uuySrBKUlsqI9CoPm5c1A4MbajqGRiAj5eKyV1_SkTV0l1OfV9VdiGEOnQQ41H8NLI8-VNdmccmZyEenYuwkEvlt0KoeRUvPaBu2St1X4wpYVHrkNXdVFyqv-G4rEDfjr9MM60sWVg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Choose “Flip.to” as your trigger.

<figure><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/zqVQGn8dvWxTCamkvSDCzlifX9YQphk_AyIFpJWTwnzbUsRUMX-z2LnjVutI4Kdji7DvD8D__u963NGTjTvK0yxRKpNz1OX9GS9axDXf5kxA_xZU2hyeSkFGI8P_EO8hgL9L1E9_-Zq2S_TlQB1Mog" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Choose your trigger type. In our example, we chose “New Advocacy Lead”. Click “Continue” button after making your selection.

<figure><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/EFS-aj5RqAYrBqJ8JMWn02HaWQfotC2R_l5NqxFrqoKf__UrkkSBDmDwje5VSbijblmqyfAqXgK68J4sdxjNj4bFQSk8a8_3Q2hZkoUn6qsM_7aH2JXPemtqqM-QkeMYXIhddWJHEfsOx4hoJl8VzA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Choose an already connected account if you have one and you’ll get to skip the next step. Otherwise, click the “Sign in to Flip.to” button.

<figure><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/5sNeHyXc5d56h269_g8r3pHc4Kkx9hLOT46eBkPyu1y0iYVX9VnK6MURyCoGzSWyDMrvwaRtQ6TTyy4KdNQVEPzMaXlsFymuHcTkBLnYv8ruB02ZFDyo9iptrfSU5-basP57Ebi-qoyf-bB5x1vQVg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Enter the API Key provided by your Flip.to Customer Success Manager. Click the “Yes, Continue” button on the popup modal, then the “Continue” button on the page.

<figure><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/Z18dT5xk4bhPWRIzo4059ShY3fZX2Q2L8MQ7BhnDsZevpAMt70KS6976O-EIIF4V8Go3YrUQUKxwYuN8vQTiozWel7HB8qABcFUaFiqVZzC2RCUZ7KpHvmCDXe0TansTCZQTaFVhz1QOe9366JlLVQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Next, we need to configure the feed. Please specify:

* The property to monitor for new leads.
* The number of days to wait for a warm lead to be nurtured in Flip.to before pulling it into your own marketing funnel. Our recommendation is 30 days.

{% hint style="warning" %}
We strongly recommend that you **do not** include Flip.to “privacy restricted” leads.\
\
Any email sent to Flip.to “privacy restricted” leads without their explicit permission is in violation of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/GgXA0UzY7cdn81_wv9IKLLVsUY41Uu8W2g83NwyIW_xvqnzPPIzj11kItMtTc6OPdAdrgw0UraicEuAAKmtA6u32JZrXhngOPL8qMYRutZPAsX9bH_WSn46_anf1QTR0gdQY9DCmQ0ZX-GWEqN-bYg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Hit test trigger to attempt to pull sample data from Flip.to’s database.

{% hint style="info" %}
Given the small search window for this test, it is very likely nothing is returned.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/UTQTQAaJz2RMmVJrVDt36wC_03P1adqo6XiGDHG07xEAQC4T1c4fEjlwjfu_wNz4_8tmYF6FbyFtXZS1acLl-amcXclcrK8M_MfPWdBKJtsWKs_u9n-lbBjrjEhHUPqZ28Bwz09KmedShXSz-5A9Zg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

When Zapier gives up searching, hit “Skip Test”. The differences between real and our provided example data are inconsequential for setup.

Hit “Continue” to accept the provided example data.

<figure><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/cLd0n_qmwPFpKeDq7D6BXU5E-E_2fD9hcG-iMUCmE8EH_FJ1GQ861jsr8NdtLR1Q0vnftSMcdyokGV2GRO84I3TnUxrGySLMzLh2ZCl7JGA5sV5xfA6kYRYJ7JnDj95k4Q5dS4SoQ_rGRzPWyR1GZg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Step 3: Define an “Action”

Find the application that you’d like to receive the Flip.to lead data. In this example, we’ll choose Mailchimp.

<figure><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/hxRiJ2EzxUKAHm9v6NOZ_1_jSq3juxQeDgOhyvW_D_RAQ8R5MostSkFPw1_ic1diqko6PpLpYZMEmG7_d7Gi6IEOuF4QMRQDbED_eZHqYbVqAvsaX3BEAebMpZGWB_FwuVMl7i-AA1LjTLR1DkZChA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Choose the action you’d like to perform for each new warm lead. In our example, we’ll add a new subscriber.<br>

<figure><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ZWL97FCmdSmXBgFIZbcyv8XnBwZTtPfcj0htpc5bN7c8kLzxtNq_ZHkapLIWL6o4CowemMOC4JDKXyGPGB-xHEqUh6RcH4vLdckAbNtq_hd3LYajNzqvNzNExP57VtdgQU82l1FV6JB0-we8bmYLtA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Perform the required authorization. For this example, this is an Oauth login popup:\
\
![](https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/O2UuUXxWSG1x_yXYbe1kzs3sO3g5YNT-TKrcZbveUCQwL__ll-yELEV3Z5CTIZEcF9AO2AU2tdXAGKA0YWRRHTUwNjUy8rh6EVPn1EPn7yZwaEhSlvwE7V8R3Tsh_Pmk2EzhePa30Ty8e6HDWZntwA)![](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/v5SHrytyHv7iPYSzLv4bJKEvRGfg7fpL-P3bmPIZ11tFS690x6hR6lQBhaVguqrQVqi2psuNdNJi_SbSxwyv_-wkl__LdW8GLtRNAjZV85lm5v5F8odpCDhe0iIXH1u-4CsqychUEawjp82lxd3K9Q)

<figure><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/1CU1H7--QZDhJs42MUgfqJBu5jHMXR0zVkU_jxISg-ZVCQPmvSyzUgLj2XcT7MilW_Rynd5YRwqhAyvSGKOLBq7Iz_59lUgR4K131dPlj88YT1Ym7rCuuZNq5KVQZdT1aDMWorYEvaC27t16hbNLNw" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Now for the magic! The test data you acquired in the trigger can now be used as tokens to fill out fields in the destination system.

In this example, we click the add token button to the right of subscriber email and choose the “Warm Lead Email Address” token as the value. Fill out all applicable fields and hit “Continue”

<figure><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/W-Wgrv5QLs1NJikIygSlQumd3UyQGfISs-CzWJ9JOtqGWnIYqGZ8jnnz4mQFCS2IAqbWIt7APGrV65Vp4vt8ieBFo3Pfxk0stXu1CmDlMU6IvF90QU_ge-NORvVulsclWnYon94MxPBygneF34xF8g" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Optionally, you can test your integration by sending your sample warm lead to your system, or just “Skip Test”.

<figure><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/NTVBkyiEQPU103Q3e6mVhm9ojbW3WKjM61bIDAlClkBOwipQtyzoyEv_v8Vsmfsu8YwIPyW2kICtQLz_qW0nGkfbR0YmTOFhhCEBGuNLwjS8YInpweIoYBe2wGY06NPdvcG1fA2Go9bHksKOyvqj6g" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

That’s it! You’re done! Just turn it on to start receiving new lead data.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.flip.to/docs/integrations/crms/zapier/using-zapier-with-mailchimp.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
